The Volunteer Center Serving Howard County will be hosting a training for community members on the process of registering and referring spontaneous, unaffiliated volunteers through Volunteer Mobilization Centers (VMC) following a disaster on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Volunteer Center.

For more information or to register email pam@volunteerhoward.org or call 410-715-3179. (Dessert & drinks available.)

In order to complement response and relief efforts, the Volunteer Center Serving Howard may be asked by Howard County’s Department of Citizen Services to assist with the registration and referral of non-affiliated volunteers AFTER a disaster.  To effectively meet this need, the center is training community members in the Volunteer Mobilization Center (VMC) process to coordinate the services of spontaneous volunteers.  Community members will serve as greeters, interviewers, facilitators, and information sources.
