The Volunteer Center Serving Howard County will host its Volunteer Mobilization Center (VMC) training for agencies on Wednesday, September 24 from 11:30 am  – 1:30 pm at the Volunteer Center located at 10221 Wincopin Circle, Columbia, MD 21044 (Columbia Association Office building, offices above Clyde’s Restaurant). Registration is limited. For more information or to register email pam@volunteerhoward.org or call 410-715-3179. FREE lunch provided for those who register by 5 pm, Friday, September 19.

Agencies will learn how to:

1)       Access volunteers following a disaster;

2)       Identify what disaster volunteers may be able to accomplish for their agency; and

3)       What plans need to be in place now to be ready to enhance their agency’s ability to respond and recover if and when the time comes.

Volunteer Mobilization Centers, at the request of Howard County’s Department of Citizen Services, will serve as a point of registration and referral for spontaneous, unaffiliated volunteers following a disaster.

Hurricane season began June 1 and ends November 1.  Plan Today to be Ready for Tomorrow.
